  • What is Joyable?

    Joyable is a 12-week online, coach-supported program proven to help you overcome social anxiety. Our program is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the gold standard for treating social anxiety, and was developed with leading clinicians and researchers.
    With Joyable, you will be guided through daily online activities organized to help you learn about CBT and social anxiety, develop skills to restructure your anxious thoughts, and use these skills to overcome your anxiety in real-life settings.
  • What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

    CBT is a set of exercises that reduces anxiety, as proven by decades of clinical research. It is the leading treatment for social anxiety, and it is also a leading treatment for many other mental health issues.
    The core concept behind CBT is that situations don’t cause anxiety by themselves. Instead, our interpretation of situations is what causes us to be anxious. To overcome your anxiety, CBT activities retrain how you interpret situations (the “Cognitive” part) and help you recognize that situations are less likely to go badly than you might fear (the “Behavioral” part).
  • How effective is CBT for social anxiety?

    CBT is the most effective treatment for social anxiety. It is recommended by leading mental health organizations including the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the U.K. National Health Service (NHS). A recent meta-analysis of over 100 research studies on social anxiety demonstrated that CBT “should be regarded as the best intervention for the initial treatment of social anxiety disorder.” Research has shown that individuals continue to see declines in their social anxiety one year after completing CBT and maintain those gains ten years later.
  • How effective is online CBT?

    Studies have shown that computerized or internet-based CBT is as effective as in-person therapy, with the same long lasting effects.
  • What type of activities will I complete?

    In the “Cognitive” portion of the program, each activity is designed to help you learn the core CBT skills which are proven to help you overcome your social anxiety. These skills include identifying your anxious thoughts, challenging these thoughts with evidence, and developing alternative, more helpful thoughts. Activities may ask you to write about your own experiences with anxiety, practicing these CBT skills in the process.
    In the “Behavioral” portion of the program, you use these techniques in real-life activities called challenges. In challenges, you put yourself in carefully structured and moderately anxious situations to develop your CBT skills. You start with more manageable situations and work your way up toward your goals.
  • How long does an activity take?

    A typical activity takes about 10 minutes.
  • How frequently should I complete activities?

    We recommend completing online activities every 1-2 days in order to see the best outcomes, though you are free to move at your own pace.
  • How long does the program last?

    Research shows that the number of activities you complete, not the period over which you complete them, most determines your improvement. Our clients typically complete the Joyable program in 12 weeks, but some see gains in just a few weeks.
  • How do I access Joyable activities?

    You can access Joyable activities from your personal computer or tablet.
  • Is my coach a therapist?

    Your coach is not a licensed therapist, doctor, or social worker. Your coach provides motivation and support, and has been trained in cognitive behavioral techniques, so he or she can provide feedback and answer questions.
  • How do I interact with my coach?

    When you start, there is an optional 30-minute call with your coach so you can get to know one another and talk about your goals. You can reach out to him or her as much as you’d like by text or email. You can also schedule time to connect by phone.
  • Can I use Joyable without a coach?

    All clients are assigned a coach, but how much you engage with your coach is entirely up to you. That said, we’ve found most clients enjoy having the feedback and accountability provided by a coach.
  • How much does Joyable cost?

    Joyable costs ${{currentPlan.monthly_amount/100}} per month for your personalized program and your coach.

  • When does my Joyable subscription start?

    You gain access to Joyable immediately upon submitting your credit card. For the first {{currentPlan.trial_days}} days, you have a free trial of Joyable.
    You will be billed ${{currentPlan.monthly_amount/100}} on your {{trialPlus(currentPlan, 1)}}th day, which gives you access to Joyable until the same day of the following month. Your subscription automatically renews on the same day of each month, so you will be billed on that day of each month that you remain a subscriber. (For example, if you sign up on January 1, you will be billed ${{plans[0].monthly_amount/100}} on January {{trialPlus(currentPlan, 1)}}, and you will be billed ${{plans[0].monthly_amount/100}} on February {{trialPlus(currentPlan, 1)}}, March {{trialPlus(currentPlan, 1)}}, and on the {{trialPlus(currentPlan, 1)}}th of each subsequent month that you remain a subscriber.)

  • What is Joyable’s cancellation policy?

    You can cancel your account at any time in your account settings.
  • What is Joyable’s refund policy?

    We want you to overcome your social anxiety. If you feel Joyable is not for you, you can email hello@joyable.com with your refund request. We will refund your full payment at any time - no questions asked.
  • Can I use the program while taking anti-anxiety or antidepressant medications?

    Yes. Studies have shown that CBT can still be effective for social anxiety when taking these medications. Before beginning the program, we recommend that you have been on a stable dosage of your medication for a month.
  • Does Joyable take steps to secure my data?

    Yes. Joyable employs industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) encryption measures for all data exchanged between our clients and our application. For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
